Miss B's Luxurious Lotion

Giving gifts is an act of beauty in itself, representing friendship and love. What better gifts can be given than homemade beauty products? I have included links to some of my favorite "lotion potions" as well as other bath and beauty products. All of the recipes are made from natural ingredients (many of which you can find in your own kitchen). Remember, there's nothing more personal than a gift that you've made yourself. Hand crafting your own gifts shows you care and have invested thought and time, assuring that the recipient will be delighted with your creations. Don't be surprised if the request a second batch!

Before We Begin

Here is a list of Oils and Other products that I use and their properties .

Emu Oil - a biologically active natural oil used to relieve pain and inflamation of injured tissues and joints. Emu Oil "soaks" into the skin very quickly, causing less "greasy" feeling when using the product. Persons with common skin irritations (acne, rashes, insect bites, etc.) using Emu Oil products usually find that they experience improvement usually within a few days of use. Long term benefits of Emu Oil products is healthier skin with improved tone and texture.

Goat Milk - soaps containine goat milk have been in use for centuries to improve skin texture and tone. Goat milk makes skin feel silky and smooth and is often used in soaps for persons prone to rashes and overly dry skin. Most goat milk soap has a smoother texture than other soaps. When combined with Emu oil and natural grains such as oatmeal, barley, and rice goat milk soap makes an excellent facial beauty bar.

Avocado Oil - is best known for it's aid in healing allergic rashes caused from bee and wasp stings, as well as, poison oak and poison ivy rashes. Some people have experienced marked improvement on severe poison oak and poison ivy rashes with one use of avocato oil soap or loation. Avocato oil's effectiveness is increased when combined with natural grains and/or eucalyptus, tea tree, or camomile. Contains natural A & D, nourishes dry/dehydrated skin. Also can be used as 10% of a body/massage oil blend.

Almond Oil - contains vitamin D. It is very popular for making massage oils. Sweet Almond Oil is used as a base for Miss B's massage oils and in many lotion recipes.

Castor Oil - is used as a perfume oil base and as a substitute for mineral oil in many of the commercial lotion recipes that are found in books on this subject. It is much better than mineral oil or baby oil because it contains no petroleum by products.

Cocoa Butter - is used in lotions and soaps for its emollient properties. It also gives a wonderful "chocolate" scent to everything it is in.

Coconut Oil - is used in home made soaps, shampoos, and shower gels for it's lathering ability and is also used as a base for some of Miss B's lotions and creams.

Jojoba Oil - is actually not an oil at all, but is expressed from the Jojoba Bean and is very rich in Vitamin E. It is excellent for all skin types due to its close chemical composition to the skin's own sebum.

Shea Butter - (I love this stuff!) is a rich creamy vegetable butter that adds super emolliency to soaps and lotions.

Beeswax - is an excellent addition to any soap, cream, or lotion due to it's moisturizing properties and nice "honey" fragrance.

Grape Seed Oil - is one of natures truly wonderful oils. Used in several of Miss B's creams and lotions, it makes the skin feel silky smooth and is similar to Jojoba in its consistency.

Sunflower Oil - is used as a base for many of Miss B's soaps, lotions and creams. It's light feel makes it an excellent compliment to many of the other oils listed here and gives creams a smooth creamy feel and helps to combat the "greasy" feeling some of the heavier oils leave.

Soybean Oil - used as a base for lotions, creams and soaps. Soybean and sunflower oils are probably the most healthy and inexpensive oils available whether used in food products or in skin care products.

PLEASE NOTE: I NO LONGER USE ANY PETROLEUM OR ANIMAL BY PRODUCTS IN ANY OF MY HOMEMADE PRODUCTS. AFTER GOING BACK TO MY ORGANIC CHEMISTRY TRAINING, I REALIZED THAT THE MOLECULES OF THESE PRODUCTS ARE LARGER THAN THE MOLEULES OF OUR HUMAN SKIN CAUSING A SUFFOCATION EFFECT. IN OTHER WORDS THESE PRODUCTS SEAL OFF THE SKIN AND RAISE THE pH LEVEL OF THE SKIN. SINCE OUR SKIN IS THE LARGEST ORGAN IN OR ABOUT OUR BODY IT SHOULD NOT BE SUFFOCATED. THIS CAUSES THE REST OF YOUR BODY TO WORK HARDER GETTING MOISTURE AND NUTRIENTS TO THE SKIN CAUSING A DRYING EFFECT.
